In this post you will learn:
Getting to page #1 in your chosen niche is never an easy task but unique content will always drive your rankings in that direction.
Page #1 rankings are usually achieved by having a huge amount of traffic from organic sources (i.e. customers who are visiting your website and purchasing something because they came across the product on one of their searches).
So, if you want to rank well on Google, you need to get as much traffic as possible from organic sources (i.e. customers looking for something without any paid advertising). The more organic traffic you can get, the better rankings you will receive.
A Few Things to Consider
Without traffic, there are no sales. There is no business. Establishing an organic search engine ranking SEO (or search engine optimization) strategy can be really difficult without the right tools and resources. Those who have put in the time to research however will tell you it is time well spent and has allowed them to grow their businesses and their market share.
There are a few things to consider when creating an organic SEO campaign for your website:
- Establish a strategy based on your site’s unique visitor patterns (such as geo-targeted keywords) if certain words rank better in Ireland, then use those keywords.
- Take advantage of link directory data. Make sure you create plenty of internal links and external links throughout your website and blogs. This helps Google help you.
- Do keyword research. This is last but certainly not least, it is the most important singular think you can do to drive organic traffic to your website.
If done correctly, you can potentially hit all three of these points with one or two clicks and get the results you are looking for back from Google!
Create a Content Strategy
If you need traffic but don’t want to pay for it then I would strongly recommend taking the time to understand which type of traffic is best for your business and budget. Some combinations can be very powerful (and rewarding) and others might not be so effective.
Here is a brief overview:
Organic search traffic is driven by search queries that are relevant to the purchaser and relevant to your product or service.
If done correctly, organic traffic will drive new leads and customers for your business. Depending on the quality of the traffic, you may have a high-revenue source (a client base you aren’t getting paid to drive), medium-revenue source (a mix of clients that aren’t paying), or low-revenue source (customers who are not interested in paying).
Obviously, if you are in business high revenue source is the model you should be chasing.
Paid search traffic is driven by advertisers who pay for clicks on specific keywords or key phrases.
Paid search can be very effective if the quality is high enough and there isn’t a lot of competition from other sources.
Content marketing has become really popular because Google wants more unique content than ever before to key its users happy.
With that in mind, keywords and longtail keyphrases become even more important and have to be the cornerstone of your content marketing campaigns.
Making sure your content is optimized for buying intent, makes sure that Google ranks you on those words or phrases and thus propels you up their ranked pages.
Twitter (www.twitter.com) is one of the experts in this area. They didn’t originally create content for their followers but it soon became evident that their users were hungry for lots of information on different products and services. To their credit, they filled that void for their users with intent-based content and allowed the company to grow followers exponentially.
Understand Intent-Based Keyword Research
If you want to improve your search rankings, you need to do keyword research. This is the most underrated of all SEO tools. Most SEOs are unaware of this fact because they think they need to create keywords and then add them to their sites. But that’s not true — your site doesn’t need keywords for you to rank in terms of searches (even though it will help). The more relevant your site appears to Google, the more likely it will rank highly in its search results.
And as a small business owner, you know that yours is unique!
So here’s a quick look at what keyword research can do for you:
- Get exact search volume: This is the number of searches per day by users who look specifically for one or more keywords (e.g., “seo services”, “seo consulting companies”). Once this number is known, it’s possible to work out what percentage of these users are actually going to use your service in terms of actual conversions (or if they’re going to continue looking at your site as a place to find things on their own rather than using it as an extension of their own business).
- Get top-of-page traffic: This means how much traffic comes from people who arrive on your site first in relevant searches. Only by knowing which keywords drive traffic and how much each keyword ranks for (as well as how long each keyword ranks) can you work out how many people would be interested in using your product or service. Again you can guestimate how many people are likely to see your product or service based on those keywords.
- Get backlinks: Backlinks have always been one source of organic SEO traffic. However, nowadays Google has made backlink visibility even greater than search rankings — because these links are visible only if someone clicks through from another website into yours and then goes on to make a purchase or otherwise benefit from any associated content on your site.
Make it Easy for the Search Engines to Index Your Site
If you want to rank higher in Google’s search results, you need an optimized website that contains all of the following:
– A well-written and well-formatted HTML page and CSS pages
– An extensive content management system (CMS)
– Various images
– A clean design
– Properly formatted code
You should also make sure your background design is clean, with appropriate spacing and formatting features like alt tags.
This might sound obvious but you’d be surprised how many businesses and web developers do not stick to these simple points.
SEO organic traffic can be kept simple if you know what your outcomes are from your content and the two only outcomes you need to worry about are about keeping Google ranking your website and mixing that with quality content that will attract sales or sales leads for you.
